The Start of Something New

Yes another Disney reference. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Whether it is a relationship, moving to a new place, changing your major, making new friends, or trying a new food. I never like to try anything new because I feel safer sticking to the way I do things. However every time I do something new it becomes my new favorite thing and changes me as a person. Hang out with people that are exciting and are real “do-ers.”

Secret sharing time: I always dreamed of doing Karaoke in front of a big audience and rockin the house down. The last time that I sang in front of an audience of about 500 people I had the only solo from the song Seasons of Love. I practice for weeks and weeks and I nailed the performance and had crying mothers coming up to me after. My next performance was in the play Fiddler on the Roof. I was Grandma Zitel and had my own song. Right before I was about to enter the stage the smoke machine blew in my face and I couldn’t see. I ran into a tombstone and it got stuck to me wedding dress, which I dragged out on stage. I was so confused I forgot my lines and butchered the song. Since then I have been scared to sing solo in front of an audience. I have dropped from a soprano 1 to a soprano 2, but I realize that it doesn’t matter. My goal is to have a couple pomtini’s and go to a karaoke bar where I know no one and rock it out…. And hey maybe I will meet my Zac Efron : )

A Moment

What is a moment? Pay attention because your whole life can change in an instant if you are not ready for it. If you do not cease an opportunity or say something to someone at the exact time when you wanted to say it, your life could be different. They say everything happens for a reason, which I am a firm believer in, but sometimes I think that you cannot sit waiting for someone to push you in the right direction. Make the right choices from what you know and God will guide you.

That was deep... but it was something I needed to get off my chest and say to infinity.

She’s Not That Into You: (for the Men)

She’s Not That Into You: (for the Men) Just because a girl is nice to you (to men), it does not mean she is interested. It’s a hard thing to understand but most of the time girls (being how they are) will lead someone on without being interested. How you know that she is not interest is? well if- (1) When a girl is interested in someone they usually keep fixing their hair. If they don’t give a shit how they look when they are around you- they are not interested. (2) If they answer all your questions without asking you a question in return then they are definitely not interested. (3) If they do not answer aim, text, or facebook messages – they don’t want to start conversations with you (4) eye contact is key- during conversations there must be eye contact. ADVICE WHAT WOMEN WANT: (1) Maintain interest with someone (2) Do not seem needy- it turns girls off. (3) being well dressed is a good plus (4) laugh (5) Don’t be too “touchy” at first- by that I mean “contact” like hand holding, arm around the shoulder, etc freaks girls out. – but it has to be done in order to move the relationship along. Test it out do not “give out” too much contact at first- go little by little so that a girl does not have to think too much about “What did that mean?”- Guys don’t know this but girls analyze EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING- So whatever you say don’t screw it up! lol

PS- If you are a Jonas Brother, you have nothing to worry about!

Creeper

What makes someone a creeper? I think everyone would agree that someone who hides in dark ally ways, watching people is a creeper but now the term “creeper” has been given to people that are semi normal. Are you a creeper if you facebook stalk someone? Mmmmmmm…… If someone was stalking me I would call them a creeper, but I don’t consider myself a creeper when I facebook stalk people…. I mean come on! Everyone does it! As long as you don’t bring it up to people that you look at their profiles then I think you are considered normal…. If you are looking people up in the yellow pages or google someone, you are definitely a creeper!

What about texting? What’s considered “creepier?” The phone call, texting, IM-ing, or facebook/myspace messaging? Depends - if they don’t give you the phone number or screen name, go with the facebook friendship. Texting is less embarrassing then the phone call but obsessive texting can also get annoying and can turn into “creepy.” Two people that I recently talked to say that they are getting turned- off by their … idk … “crush” because of obsessive text messaging. – People know you receive the text message and if you don’t answer you are a douche bag and if you do answer you are in for a whole day of texting back and forth. If you like someone (in the pre- dating stage) I would cap it to 2 text messages a day and only use your second if they answer your text with a question. With all of this new media, someone needs to define “creepy.”

10 Guilty Pleasures

It’s ok to have guilty pleasures. Everyone has them but no one admits to them. They are things that make you feel good that you rather people do not know. (If you are thinking dirty things right now leave this blog page lol) I am going to come clean with some of mine so that other people don’t feel that bad about theirs.

(1) I watch Disney movies religiously
(2) I will go to the supermarket just to buy a chocolate bar- (usually just once a month)
(3) I rock out in my car to Hannah Montana
(4) I wear slipper socks around my house
(5) I own Darren’s Dance Grooves
(6) I love Andre more than water
(7) I wear sunglass even when its raining
(8) I play with my Webkinz online
(9) I take at minimum a 45 min shower
(10) I put ketchup on 50% of my food

Don’t’ judge everyone does weird things. I think you would have to be weird to be completely normal. Everyone has their inner child still in them somewhere. Live it! Don't try to hide them!

Come Home

I love the band OneRepbulic. “Apologize” everyone knows for being an over played pop song but if you check out the rest of their CD they are fantastic. When I went to their concert they got a huge encore when they left the stage. After 8 or so mins of the crowd cheering, they came back out and did this song. LISTEN TO IT NOW!

It makes your heart drop. “Come home, Come home.
Cause I’ve been waiting for you
For so long,

And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I’ve ever known.

The song makes you think of someone that you have not seen in a long time and suddenly you remember all the good times you had with him or her. Home is where the comfort is. Not having the people there that mean the most to you does not make it home. Now being out in LA, I realize that I will probably not be in my home town as often as I thought, and when I do go home it is unlikely that all the people from my childhood will be there. Home has changed. Some of the people have changed. You never expect some of your close friends to change but through time they do. Such is life.

What "turns girls on"

There many things that turns girls on besides looks and personality. (1) dancing. I don’t care if you think you can’t dance but who would not fall for a guy who could sweep you off your feet. I remember when I was down the shore with one of my friends and her boy friend came to stay with us. We played classy James Taylor music and he took her hand and started dancing with her. I don’t mean bumpin and grindin. I mean one hand around the waste and then twirling her with the other hand. If you are in a relationship with someone- (guys) take note: spin her around and dance with her and your will never loose her.

You need a romantic or chill music? James Taylor is the way to go. It’s soothing and reminds me of the ocean. He is one of my faves. (“Fire and Rain” “Mexico” “Caroline I See You” “Sweet Baby James” )

Other things that “turns girls on” (2) a boy that can sing. (3) that can drive you around in his car (4) listening to you and remembering your conversations (5) thoughtfulness (6) being athletic and strong (7) ambitious. There are many more. It doesn’t take a lot to impress a girl, just remember the little things.

Pumping My Own Gas

I have never pumped my own gas before until today. In New Jersey we have full service everywhere which yes is sweet, but makes New Jerseyans look totally brainless and dumbed down every time we get gas out of state. At first I sat in my car for a minute waiting and then I realized that duh I am not in NJ anymore. I get out of my car and stare blankly at the simple gas machine. The whole process was very slow and the person behind me in line looked at me as if I were a spoiled rich snob that didn’t know my right from my left. To piss him off even more (since I am from New Jersey) I took a picture of myself documenting the process.

Movin to Hollywood

I am about to move out to LA for 2.5 months. I have no idea where I will be going or exactly what I am doing. I am working for Garry Marshall and I am really excited!! He is quite possibly doing a movie this summer so I will be able to work on set as well. I feel like everything is falling into place for me. I am still a little down on the fact that I will not see my friends or spend more time in the wonderful New Jersey. I figure that I need a little song to get me into the mood.

Cali is going to be so different then the east coast. I feel like I am going to loose weight, doing nothing. I am going to actually weigh myself before I leave tomorrow and see if when I get back if there was any difference at the end of my trip. (lame I know). From what I hear California is the “healthy state.” I was brought up in Jersey where grease is the main ingredient in everything. When I think of the average person in LA I think of models. Do you want to be on top?

He’s Just Not That Into You

How do you know when a guy is into you? There are so many misconceptions and things that can be taken different ways. I saw this preview for a movie today that was called “He’s just no that into you.” It looks brilliant.

Everyone’s been through awkward situations with the opposite sex. Call it a relationship, call it dating, call it a fling, call it random hook ups. Do you text someone? Call them? IM? Facebook? Is it a private message? What the fuck, who cares right? Actually it does matter. If you screw up one thing up then the other person doesn’t know how to think. It’s one of those problems that can never be solved. Why is it such an issue? What if you fuck it up? Is that it? Does your chance end? The question that all girls have is: Who should make the first move? Most girls think it should be the guy because they don’t want to come off as a slut. Also it is a terrifying situation. Men should just man up and do it.

HOWEVER, I came to the conclusion that whoever you are if you like someone, you have nothing to loose. If you are in the moment just do it. That’s it. If the man thinks you are a slut then they are obviously not for you or… he is just not interested. If he likes you he will call you again and stay in touch.

Titanic!

Why does everyone have to be so down on Titanic for? It is one of the best movies of all time. Since it was one of the best movies of the 90s, it got over talked about and Celine Dion’s song got over played. But now 10 years later a lot of us seem to forget that it has won the most academy awards of all time! You know you love those lyrics “Near, far, wherever you are.
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door.
And you're here in my heart.
And my heart will go on and on.”

The editing and special effects in it are magnificent! Whenever I watch it I get into the storyline and become emotionally tied to the actors. It truly is one of my favorite movies of all time and it should be for everyone who grew up in the 90s. If you have not seen it (cough cough Meredith Crowe) netflix it right away or hell go buy it at walmart for 7.99 because you will watch this movie whenever you want to enjoy great special effects or a great love story. Wear Big Sunglasses

There is no reason why you can’t wear ridiculously big sunglasses. Wear them in the morning on the way to class, wear them at night, wear them in the city, in the airport, or while driving. I even met someone who wore them everyday during our class in the winter. (haha over kill) Are celebrities seriously the only people who can pull them off? I wore sunglass all the time at my hotel in Hawaii and people seriously treat you differently. Before wearing them I was just a kid who didn’t care whoever saw my top half of my face. As soon as I put them on I became important. Everyone was supper nice to me because they thought I was trying to hide my identity. If you ever go on vacation try not wearing them for a day and then start wearing them and see how people treat you differently. If you wear sunglasses, no one will question you. Since you have the style of a movie star, people will treat you like one. (just in case you are) It’s fun try it!

BEWARE: I said to wear them in the airport. Make sure you are not getting your ID checked or your bags checked or you might get the person in a bad mood. That happened to me and I almost got arrested because she thought I was pulling an attitude with her because she could not see my expressions. (more to come in a later blog about getting in trouble in airports).

The Notebook

The Notebook is the best chick flick ever. Whenever you are depressed, watch it. I am not a crier but I always tear at the end. Every girl wishes to find love like the two main characters. In reality this almost never happens. They don’t see one another for 7 years but their love still last all that time. Is that possible? YOU WISH! Being a film major I can say that this movie had an excellent set crew. Every scene has remarkable color and is visually very beautiful. The soundtrack just screams tear jerker! Check out this scene:

Every girl wants a guy that they can be their selves around. Someone you can act totally psychotic with and it doesn’t even matter. Allie, in the movie, struggles to make a decision whether to go with the nice charming rich guy or the poor heart throb that makes her feel young and playful. Through out this whole movie I was just screaming “dumb bitch choose Noah! Duhhhh!” But the truth is girls always have to second-guess themselves to death, even when the right answer is so clear. Its what we do. We have no idea what we want.

Goodbyes

All the seniors are leaving to start their new lives after college. They avoid their goodbyes with their friends till the last day of school. Will they have as good of friends where they will be going next? Will they keep in contact with their old friends? Are they ready to move on without them? The answer to these questions is absolutely YES. If you are good enough friends, you will keep in contact with them for as long as you want. If both sides can put the effort into your friendship you have nothing to worry about. You cannot dwell on goodbyes. You need to accept them and move on with your main goals in life. Follow your dreams and your friends that you leave will support you and keep in contact with you. You determine your future. Keep going forward and you will meet new friends and keep your old as well.

The song is way over done but still hits you every time!

Life will repeat itself- You may have to leave your very best friends when leaving middle school, high school, college, moving to a new home, getting a new job, etc. When I had to make a major life decision, I listen to this song a lot.

When you catch a break in life be more mature and get yourself in the spotlight but make sure your lovable personality does not change. I am giving a shot out to the "Tis" raining from Monmouth County, New Jersey!!! Ashley Tisdale has not (yet) been in the media for doing something out of character. She is a great role model and is representing NJ in a possitive way!
