The Road not Taken
By: Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
and sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
and looked down one as far as I could
to where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
and having perhaps the better claim
because it was grassy and wanted wear;
though as for that, the passing there
had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
in leaves no feet had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference
This is a great thought of the day! Every decision you make affects your future, even in the smallest measure. I wrote about this in my college essay. When I was in middle school I had to pick either public or private school --> I picked public. At my public high school I had to pick fencing or field hockey/ ice skating. --> I chose fencing. With fencing I had to choose staying at a moderate fencing club or moving to a more advance club---> I chose more advanced. (Then I chose to be taught by a former olympian fencer).--> He was able to speak to coaches--> I had to choose Temple or Northwestern --> I chose Northwestern. --> At college I had to pick fencing or film--> I chose film.... and now I have a kick ass internship that will lead me to more decisions. Back track your decisions in life and look how far/ not far you have come based on your smallest and biggest decisions in life. ( If I did not pick Public school I would not have been fenicng , I would not have been able to go to Northwestern, I would of not gotten an awesome intership. ) Remember sometimes you have to give up things you love in order to get ahead in life. Its not bad, its business, and its Life!
What road will you take in life. Be careful with every decision you make!
